“Bleisure” travel to Nevada from the Bay Area is expected to increase now that tech giants and start-ups alike embrace the ‘work from anywhere’ movement.

Let’s face it. Work travel will never be the same again. The Madmen-Esque travel era with slick suits, skinny ties, and fedoras is not coming back. Employers are facing a crippling labor shortage and with no end in sight, the current environment is forcing leaders to lead by example.

For years, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) has made countless excursions to Silicon Valley and the greater San Francisco Bay Area to “attract companies to expand and grow their business in Nevada.” EDAWN is credited with enticing New Deantronics, Tesla, Panasonic, Stem-Express, Unstoppable Domains, and PayCertify to relocate to the Reno/Sparks/Tahoe region and bring hundreds of jobs with them.

Today, tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and others are embracing the inevitable. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced back in June that the company will allow all full-time employees to work from home if their jobs can be done remotely. Even local companies are adapting. Brian Gifford, the founder of BluePeak Technology Solutions, says his company is pivoting to embrace the remote work shift driven by COVID.

However, many remote workers are eager to seek out legendary wilderness adventures while staying close to family and friends, which makes states like Nevada ideal for 30-days plus Workcations. Here are the Top 3 Short-Term Rentals for remote workers representing Reno’s culture and diversity.
